'Predatory' man watches porn on his phone publicly on bus in front of female passengers News 24 365

A “predatory” man who watched pornography on his phone while touching himself on public transport has been targeting female passengers for six months.

The pervert is said to start by watching the explicit videos and then seems to “get off” on the disgusted reactions of the women he sits near, constantly looking round to see their faces.

He is said to angle his phone in a way it cannot be missed and should a target get off the bus he then moves to sit closer to other victims.

Two victims, who had been on the 143 bus in Manchester, looked online after encountering the sex pest and found a Facebook post detailing an almost identical experience, Manchester Evening News reported.

They reported him to the police who are now investigating.

One victim, who did not want to be named, said: “I thought it was just a one off thing.

“When I realised it wasn’t, I started getting scared.”

Another said when she saw the same man in January, she thought he could have been touching himself while watching her reactions.

She added: “It felt predatory, and sinister. I couldn’t see his hand but it looked like he was having a fiddle.

“Street level sexual harassment leads to people believing they can get away with it which facilitates violence.

“It does make you feel unsafe.”

Another said the man had been watching explicit content in front of two women nearby, who eventually left the bus.

As soon as they had got off the vehicle, the predator moved closer to the other woman, sitting directly in front so she could see the disturbing content on his phone.

She said: “I didn’t feel scared until he sat closer to me.

“What made me more scared is that so many people have seen it. So many people have been impacted by this.

“Obviously nobody on the bus consented to that [watching porn]. He was definitely looking around to see how people were reacting.

“He was getting off on the public element of it.”

A spokesperson for Stagecoach Manchester said: “The safety of our customers is our absolute priority. We are absolutely appalled at the behaviour which has been reported and we are currently supporting the police in any way that we can with their inquiries.

“We would advise anyone who has been subjected to unacceptable behaviour to report the details to our drivers as soon as possible. All incidents raised with us are reported to TravelSafe.
